Festival of Trees and Trains

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we traveled to Ashland to visit family and enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at Nana Whitt's. While there, we couldn't miss the opportunity to take Brady to the Paramount Arts Center's Festival of Trees and Trains. The Paramount was decorated with close to 100 Christmas trees but Brady did not notice any of them. He was focused on the 3 large model train sets. He even got to run one of the trains with the help of a retired CSX engineer (and old friend of Uncle Bob's).



Brady was very proud of himself when he made the train say 'all aboard'...

I love this picture because neither Nick or Brady realize there is more than just a shiny blue wrapper. Maybe next year they will learn how to unwrap and see what is inside.

It's pumpkin picking time...

On Saturday, we spent a beautiful fall morning at the Gallrein Farm in Shelbyville, KY. Brady took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Once there, Brady was so overwhelmed by the endless field of pumpkins that Daddy had to find the perfect pumpkins for each of us. We also enjoyed feeding some of the farm animals and climbing the hay pyramid.

UK football...

Brady's first football game of the season was UK vs. Western. He was so lucky that his cousins, Jordan, Jacob, and Jill, joined him in cheering on the Cats. His mommy and daddy were also lucky to have great little babysitters during tailgate.

Ike blows into Louisville...

Last Sunday, the remnants of Hurricane Ike hit Louisville leaving 300,000 without power - including us. Even without power, we were very fortunate to have no damage to our house or yard. We stayed with Grandma & Grandpa a few nights, enjoying their power and company. Since school was cancelled, we spent several afternoons at the zoo enjoying the wonderful fall-like weather. On Wednesday, after school was cancelled for the rest of the week and the power was still out, Mommy and Brady went to Ashland to visit Nana and Grandad (unfortunately, we did not take our camera with us). We returned to Louisville on Saturday, hoping to have power. Finally, our power returned Saturday evening.

It's Football Time in the Bluegrass...

Sunday began one of our favorite fall traditions, UK football. The UK vs. U of L game was in Louisville this year, so we cheered on the Cats in Ashland with our tailgating family. Thanks to Jack and Susie Daniel for hosting us. Brady did slow down long enough to get a few pictures.

Brady Starts School...

On Monday, Brady began attending the Friends School's 2 day program. He took his lunch in his Thomas the Train lunchbox, met a new friend, and enjoyed exploring his classroom. Here are a few pictures from his first day.

Brady's New Love...

I am sharing a few pictures of Brady and his elephants (he says el-we). He is very into elephants right now and loves finding pictures of them in his books. We have made many trips to the zoo this summer to see them.

New York, New York...

This being the last year for Yankee Stadium, Ben wanted to make a trip to NYC to see 'the house that Ruth built' (his obsession with baseball finally paid off for me!). We had a wonderful 3 days in New York with perfect weather. Here are a few pictures....
